How to Do a Collab Post on Instagram as a Brand or Creator

Instagram collab

Have you ever gone to an Instagram post and seen that it has two names both appearing at the top? Usually, when you tag someone, it simple appears on the captions. However, the Collab post allows for two or more parties to have both their names appear at the top of a reel and for it to be on both your feeds.

This is the Collab feature. Meta introduced the feature on Instagram in late 2021 and has been a Godsend feature to brands and content creators.

For businesses which work with influencers, having their name appear with the name of the influencer allows them to reach audiences they normally wouldn’t.

This access is what makes the Collab feature a great tool to reach new audiences. So, here is how to use it:

  1. Click the + sign to add a new post on Instagram.
  2. Then, once you have uploaded the content you want, click on the ‘Tag people’ prompt.
  3. This will bring you options, including ‘Invite collaborator.’ Click on it.
  4. Then, look for the account that you want to tag and click on their profile.
  5. When you do this, Instagram will send a request to the other party, which they should then accept.
  6. Once they accept the invitation, the post will go live and appear on both your profile grids and feeds.

To use the Collab feature, ensure that both your and your collaborator’s accounts are public. However, you can send an invite to a private account only if you follow that private account.

Also ensure that your Instagram is up to date. If not, you might be unable to send or receive collaboration requests.

Currently, Instagram allows you to have up to 20 collaborators tagged at once, so have fun with it!
