3 Ways to Improve Your Search Engine Ranking
Search engine optimizationWhether you are a business or a brand, if you have a website, chances are you are familiar with or have heard of Search Engine Optimization, aka “SEO”.

According to MOZ, SEO is “the practice of improving and promoting a website in order to increase the number of visitors the site receives from search engines.” These “practices” can be anything from paid or unpaid results, to incorporating proper keywords, back-linking, and more. SEO is simply “making sure your website is structured in a way that search engines understand and can find you.

Given that 93% of all internet traffic come from internet searches and 89% of these searches are being carried out by first-time users, it is important to take SEO seriously. These numbers can be the difference between profit or loss for any one brand.

Below are three tips to help you improve your search engine ranking today.

1. Create Quality Content
“Content is King.” Back in the day, search engines didn’t really care too much about your content. But that all changed. The more quality content you produce, the better. Why? Because the more people get out of your quality content, the more they’ll share it, engage with you and their audience about it – the higher you’ll rank and attract more visitors. Quality content also results in people staying on your site longer. The longer they stay, the more impact it will have on your ranking.

Here are some useful tips in creating quality and compelling content:

  •  Focus on educating, entertaining, and delivering value to your audience.
  • Know your audience – provide them with relevant information.
  • Be controversial.
  • Create an infographic (they tend to go viral).

2. Create Inbound Links
Outside of quality content, your reputation on the web is everything. Whenever someone links to your site, search engines ranks your site as reputable. The more links you have, the higher you’ll rank.

Here are a few useful tips to create inbound links:

  • Create quality content on your site so that when people link to it, they are compelled to share it.
  • Comment on blogs.
  • Guest Blog- create news stories on a high trafficked blog and link these stories back to your website.

3. Hire a Third Party
There is a reason why SEO marketing experts exist. It takes a lot of time, focus and creativity to rank. If you are a small business owner or entrepreneur looking to increase your visibility, often at times, the best way to go about it is to hire an experienced professional that understands the techniques and nuances of SEO. The cost may be jarring at first, but the return, can make a huge difference in helping you reach your goals.
